Antique Primitive OnePiece Wooden Butter Churn, 19th Century Country Churn

Antique Primitive OnePiece Wooden Butter Churn, 19th Century Country Churn

Antique If you’re on the hunt for an antique wooden butter churn, have a look at this beauty! It’s not staved, it was hand carved from a log way back in the 19th Century and has forged iron bands as well. This piece comes complete with it’s fitted spash cover and dasher. Unrestored and great looking, churn has a nice, grungy, aged patina with warm tones and nice graining. Its rich coloring and wonderful surface are the results of wear and tear and simply the passage of time.

Forgotten about in an old barn for decades, it is still dusty inside but it’s very well preserved. There are no problems with dry rot, woodworms, or termites. We wiped down the outside with bees wax but have not stained, sanded, or refinished this piece. As the photos show, this churn looks very nice. It’s rugged, solid, and sound. It has some typical age cracks that are often found on one-piece churns and are not structurally problematic. Users of these churns back in their day would just soak them in water for a day or two to close up little cracks before churning. This one stands 31 1/4 inches tall including the dasher stick and about 20 inches without it. It’s a rather slender churn with a bottom measuring 6 1/2 inches in diameter while the top has a 5 5/8 inch diameter. Delightfully rustic in appearance, this genuine antique butter churn will become an instant heirloom for the winning bidder. It would also add a touch of country charm to any kitchen, fireplace hearth, porch, or restaurant. You won’t be disappointed in this early piece! The winning bidder adds postage. Good luck!
