The Friesian tail clock is Dutch history.
Friesian tail clocks originated in the Provence of Friesland in the north of the Netherlands. Long clock building tradition in Friesland. Various varieties have been made.
This clock features are :
Gorgeous mahogany flamed case. Very chique and expensive wood. Large model.
Age: about 1940
It has two gilt weights.
The clock is from the brand WUBA.
The clock chimes every half and whole hour, and RUNS PERFECTLY.
Statue on top of Atlas who is carrying the world on his shoulders. Next to Atlas there are two angels that are blowing the horn and having a mirror in the other hand.
According to Greek mythology; Atlas carries the kingdom of heaven on his shoulder as a punishment for his pride for fighting Zeus, that way he is preventing heaven to fall down on earth. Atlas is also the God of Astronomy that explains somewhat the presence on clocks .
The face of the clock is handpainted with oilpaint with a Dutch landscape at the river around the dial there are handpainted flowers.
It also has a moondial with the sun that shows when it is day and the stars when it is night.
The clock has a big pendulum that hangs in the case. The hole where the pendulum hangs behind in decorated with bronze.
The clock has a German timepiece.
7 day clockwork in excellent running condition.
