This is an antique Tiffany & Co. hand fan with mother of pearl arms and a substantial solid 14 karat gold handle. The handle also has gold flower designs on each side which add to the gold content. The handle is thick and likely has a good amount of Gold in it. The handle is also Marked Tiffany as is the box. You know this fan was original to this box. Other Tiffany fans in boxes may be suspect IF their fan handles are not also marked Tiffany. Tiffany quality is evident in the solid gold handle on this fan. There is another Tiffany fan for sale on here for 700 BUT it does NOT have a sold gold handle. It must be of lower quality or maybe it is another fan stuffed into a Tiffany box? . My fan has detached from its mother of pearl supports and simple needs to be glued back together. There is no damage and there are no missing arms. Look at the photos. I got this fan directly from a wealthy estate and I would not attempt to glue it back together. I do not have the patience necessary. lol I did not try to remove the 14 karat gold handle to weigh it. I don’t see how to do this without possibly causing damage. I will say that the handle falls with authority which indicates a good weight. I could have scrapped this handle but the fan is too nice to ruin so I am offering it here to hopefully a person who will restore it and cherish it. HOWEVER! If the bids remain stupidly low, I WILL end the auction and scrap the gold handle. It is up to YOU collectors to prevent this fan from meeting an unhappy end. 🙂 The bidding will start out at 9.99 and NOT 700!
