No Reserve Auction for A Nice Pair of Square RosettesAuction 2 of 2
Included in this auction is a pair of square rosettes c. 1870’s that I believe were made by Russell and Erwin R&E. It is very difficult to tell and this assumption is based off the fact that they were on the same door with an ornate mortise lock by Russell & Erwin (also listed in separate auction), two R&E Geisha doorknobs (listed in auction), and two key plates from the R&E Oriental suite (Listed in Auction). There was some Mallory Wheeler hardware in the house as well, and mortise locks dating to 1860.
They have a beautiful natural patina.
I’m an avid collector of hardware and can confirm that I have not been able to find another one of these for sale anywhere. Therefore I will call them rare, which is an over used word for hardware.
Other Auctions to Complete the Set of Fine and Rare Hardware:There is an auction for the mortise lock and strike plate. There are two auctions for the two Geisha knobs found with this hardware. There is an auction for the (2) decorative Oriental Line key plates found with this hardware.
There is another auction for a second pair of these rosettes. I will be listing more sets in the upcoming weeks so you’ll have a chance to get enough for an entire floor or a house.
