This is a 1990 issue USA manufactured Winchester Split Backspring Whittler for auction, 3 3/8″ closed. The master Clip and small Spear blades are all tang stamped with Winchester Trade Mark Made In USA, with the rear tang of the master Clip blade being pattern and date stamped with 3902 ’90, dating this as a 1990 issue Winchester knife.

This Winchester Split Backspring Whittler features the pinned Badge style shield, nickel silver bolsters, and all 3 blades have “walk and talk” snap.

The blades are manufactured with mirror polished carbon cutlery steel and the master Clip blade is etched with “Winchester Trade Mark”.

This knife is in mint condition and features the fine actual vintage age Genuine Bone (cattle bone) scales.

My father, the late Jim Parker, and Charlie Dorton were great friends. Charlie and my dad dealt for years as they were both instrumental in the development of the Case Classic program. Blue Grass Cutlery holds the license for these Winchester knives and when Charlie was a partner in Blue Grass, he told my father that this Genuine Bone used on these late 1980’s produced knives, was actually antique age Genuine Bone that he acquired from the Utica Knife Factory. Dorton and George Smith loaded up barrels of this old bone and transported it off the premises of the Utica Factory. This dates the bone used on this knife as being from the 1910-1937 era.
