VINTAGE HAMILTON GRADE 992 16 SIZE 21 JEWELS 5 POSITIONS DOUBLE ROLLER RAILROAD GRADE MOVEMENT NEEDS TLC!
Serial Number: 2,576,499. Circa: 1935.
THANK YOU for considering our vintage and fine but currently non-running condition Hamilton Grade 992, 16 size, open face, 21 jewels, adjusted to heat, cold, isochronism and 5 positions, double roller, cupped gold jewel settings, gold center wheel, gold balance screws, ¾ nickel plate, stem wind, lever set, railroad-grade movement. The movement is jammed in the escapement/pallet fork area and needs to be looked at. A minor adjustment in that area should do the trick! Otherwise this fine movement is in excellent working order, with a dead flat and true balance wheel motion that has a fine, wide arc. The movement is a smooth wind-up, lets down with good force, meaning the mainspring still has lots of “ommph†left in it, and lever sets as designed. Cant’ vouch for accuracy because it has never run here. Cosmetically this movement is looking great, with very minor tarnish on the winding wheels, clean, even nickel plates, clean regulator stuff, a really clean and beautiful gold center wheel, and a generally overall handsome appearance! The movement does show ordinary wear. It will be a great acquisition for the lucky top bidder!
