Very Old Dark Brown Mohair Early Steiff Teddy Bear Humped Back needs TLC

Very Old Dark Brown Mohair Early Steiff Teddy Bear Humped Back needs TLC

Very Very Old Dark Brown Mohair Early Steiff Teddy Bear – Humped Back needs TLC

This is a wonderful early Steiff teddy bear. He no longer has his button but has all of the markers of an early Steiff, with his pronounced hump and long arms. He measures around 13 inches / 33 cm and is a dark brown mohair, he retains only about 25% coverage now. His paw pads have all been replaced, though I can see his original felt under one of his foot pads. He looks like he has had quite a few repairs during his long life, with repairs to this tummy, top of his legs and one ear looks like it has been sewn back on. There are the remains of his original stitched claws. He has painted boot button eyes and his muzzle is really dirty, but I do think it would brush off a little. He does have some small holes on his head and to the front near his neck. I can feel a very long tilt growler in his chest, which no longer works, it feels like it measures 3 inches/ 8 cm long and feels like cardboard. His stuffing in his head is still quite firm, but his arms and legs and especially his body are very floppy as the stuffing has disintegrated. His joints are still quite tight. He really is a smashing looking bear, he will go to the higest bidder, I will not be ending the auction early.

If you require special or recorded delivery we will happily arrange this for an additional charge.

We do offer worldwide shipping. Small, lightweight items (under 2kg) can usually be sent via Royal Mail Small Packet Airmail. This service is not trackable/traceable. If you require your items to insured or have a tracking number during shipping please contact us before bidding, so that we can obtain a quote from a courier. Heavy or large items will also need to be sent by courier. This can be quite expensive, especially outside Europe, so please check with us before bidding.

We will combine shipping, so if you buy more than one item please ask for a combined invoice. Where possible we recycle packaging, or use materials that are environmentally friendly. Hello!

We’re now in our third year of selling on as a business, though we’ve sold odd bits and pieces that we’ve collected, and things that the children have grown out of, since way back when was new.

Most of the items we sell are vintage toys, teddy bears or dolls, though we do keep an eye out for other interesting items. We are regularly in the top 5 largest antique bear shops on UK and usually have a good range of bears – old and new. These include vintage/antique bears from Chad Valley, Chiltern, Merrythought and Deans and newer artist bears from all over the world. Our vintage toys regularly include tinplate and clockwork toys from Japanese makes like Yone, TPS ALPS and others like Wells and Brimtoy. We also try and keep a stock of non-military lead/tin items from Britains, John Hill, Cherilea and Crescent. For those a bit younger (but not that much) we usually have toys, games and action figures from the likes of Palitoy, MB and Spears.

We pride ourselves on describing our items well, but if you are not happy with your purchase and think we have decribed it incorrectly, please contact us. We are happy to give a full refund on safe return of the item.
