Superb C.1860 set of three carved oxbone brushes by William Leuchars 38 Piccadilly London. Famous for making oxbone chess sets of the highest quality Leuchars were taken over in 1888 and became Aspreys. The smaller of the three brushes is marked on the edge “Leuchars 38 Piccadilly”. The quality of the carving to the monograms is breathtaking. All carved from one piece of oxbone with the lettering left proud of the surface. Excellent condition . The large brush has a couple of natural drying cracks and also on the largest brush there is a small loss to the lettering at top right of monogram ( see image ) which barely detracts.
