A rare antique cast brass bus or tram ticket punch. The punch was originally mounted near the front & travellers used the punch to mark their tickets when boarding. The punch has a cast brass base with two holes for attaching & two locating pins underneath the base that’s why the punch is leaning off to the side. The punches are at two different heights, the taller one has a brass collar under the knob the smaller one hasn’t & both have a spring action. They both work. The taller one is a bit catchy & the smaller one is a bit blunt when punching the holes. Both sides have the number 1 stamped into the brass. It would be suitable for a transport, tram or bus collection.
Condition….The ticket punch is as seen in the pictures. There is a residue of old paint to the sides & one side has a dot of paint. One of the attaching holes is right near the edge. The bottom has some machining marks & small scratches. There is some light rust to the springs & it hasn’t been cleaned which is better left to the experts. The top of the knobs have some fine scratches. It has no cracks or splits to the metal. The ticket punch displays well & it works.
Size ….7.9 cms. long x 2.9 cms. wide x 7.3 cms. high overall.
