French Moreau Figural Statue Lamp

This is Very Tall & Impressive Figural Art Nouveau style Lamp featuring a Beautiful woman holding a Chalice & a Floral decorated Chandelier. She is standing upon a Sculpted Metal Base with Ormolu Accents. The Attention to Detail is Simply Stunning. This piece was Created by a True Master Sculptor. This Piece is Marked with the Moreau Brothers Signature as well as the Collection Connoisseur emblem.This is a seldom used mark though it has been attributed to the 1950’s era J.B. Hirsch Lamps.
This Gorgeous Lamp is not so much a Copy or Reproduction but has actually been re-cast during the 1950’s by J.B. Hirsch from the Original French Molds. During WWII the Original Molds were Broken up and Discarded under the Factories and in Basement Cellars to prevent them from being Destroyed by Marauding Armies.
Most of these foundries did not resume business after WWII was over & all of the valuable artist bronze molds remained buried. Before the war, the J.B. Hirsch company was a client of various French bronze foundries. Hirsh found out about the buried molds and began making trips to France to obtain the molds. His trips to France from 1948 to 1963 unearthed nearly 200 molds which he carefully brought back to the U.S. and put back together.
In many cases, items from this collection have become more valuable than the originals. These lamps were made from molds that were originally created by the well-known Paris bronze studio L.&.F. Moreau, two brothers who were members of the famous Moreau family of artists. L&F were best known for creating highly ornate clocks and lamp sets in both bronze and spelter.
