Old Baseball Glove, Antique Leather Vintage 1920s

Old Baseball Glove, Antique Leather Vintage 1920s

Old

Very old baseball glove, and one I
admit I know very little about, not being a collector of Baseball
memorbilia. By comparing it with others seen, it appears identical
to one from the 1920s. I can tell you it is in GREAT shape with NO
TEARS, SPLITS or DAMAGE. It also appears to be in ALL ORIGINAL
condition. The leather is pliable as I can put my hand in all the
fingers and form a pocket like we used to do in my younger days when
I played baseball, but that was some 60+ years ago. I found this
glove around 40-50 years ago but cannot remember where. It measures
around 9” wide and is 10” tall from the base to the top of the
“swearing” finger. I can make out writing about 2 inches up from
the base in the middle of the catching side which appear to be two
lines written in cursive. However, I don’t know what the writing
states but someone familiar (a collector) with the names used back
then could possibly figure out what the writing is. The button
holding the wrist snap is possibly bronze (or brass) but I didn’t
polish it to be sure. It has two factory slits in the strap for the
button and both are fine with no splits. I did unfasten the strap
and again the leather is pliable. There appears to be a small cloth
tag at the inside base of the strap but it shows nothing. Again, I
am sorry I am not an expert on these collectibles but I have tried to
describe this glove as well as I can. I kept it all these years
because it just looked so interesting. Now because of age we are
cleaning out the house.
