Vintage blue aqua pint canning jar that is in nice condition. Some minor wear and scratch marks from use over the years. Comes wtih old embossed Ball zinc lid and red rubber sealing ring. The rubber has some age cracks from use and age. Jar is nicely embossed on the front: MASON’S PATENT 1858. Has period embossed after 1858. Reverse: PORT in script. These jars were made in the early 1900’s at Port Glass Co. in Belleville, Il. and Muncie, Indiana. Ball purchased the company in 1904 and it was closed in 1910. I have another jar in this pint size made by Ball after they purchased this comapany and reworked the molds and has Ball on the reverse, on another auction. Nice looking early made Mason jar and a nice collectors item for the early glass, fruit jar, bottle, preserve, country store or kitchen collection.
