A brass seal which could dual as either a small desk or fob chain item. The intaglio subject is an armorial crest, portraying a Heraldic Griffin (Gryphon) Passant, mounted on a wreath, with the Motto; “VIGILANT & TRUE” in reverse intaglio, set below. The fob is in good condition, with the engraving still being clear and well defined, but the face has some very light pitting and the usual scuffing, a nice patina has developed to the brass. I have not been able to identify any family connection, but admit to not spending too long on the research, I can leave that up to the next proud owner.
