Konrad Koppitz and Arthur Melchers formed the KOPPITZ-MELCHER BREWING COMPANY in Detroit in 1890. Prohibition put them out of business.
Condition: Evidence of light interior & exterior dirt, bail residue from lightning stopper, crazing in neck, evidence of air venting, medium exterior scratching, case wear on embossed front “M” in MELCHERS, feels rough to the touch, 1″ x 1/16″ straight vertical interior mark running from neck into finish, could be an oblong bubble or crazing; smooth to the touch, ghost set of “505” next to raised embossing on base, upper edge of heel mold line in evidence running around the circumference of the bottle, side mold seam curling over the heel, side mold runs from base and ends below the top of the finish (blob top), no chips, no cracks, bubbles in glass.

SCRATCH: small lines on the outside of the bottle caused by the glass being scratched by an object, CRAZING: vertical lines in neck of bottle that almost look like faint cracks but are the result of twisting and cooling process during manufacture. CASE WEAR: scuffs, small scratches and wearing away of the embossed lettering.
