ANTIQUE VTG EARLY 1900’s FAN EMERSON TYPE 19646 BRASS BLADE & CAGE ELECTRIC FAN

original antique Emerson Type19646 Electric Fan. The fan features brass blades and

cage and the tag on top states “EMERSON THE EMERSON ELECTRIC MFG CO NEW

YORK ST LOUIS NO. 137356 TYPE 19646 VOLTS 110 WATTS 64 CYCLES 60 SPEED

(left blank) FOR ALTERNATING CURRENT PATENTED”. The fan measures app. 16″ in

overall height to the top of the cage, the cage itself measures app. 13″ in diameter,

the blades measure app. 12″ in diameter and the fan is marked “EMERSON” on the

brass tag on the front of the cage. The brass has not been cleaned or polished in

years and we will leave the decision to do so or not to the new owner. The fan runs

well on the high speed setting after you give the blades a push but does not seem to

want to stay running on the slow setting. Therefore I would certainly think it should

have a complete cleaning prior to your actually planning on using it. The black painted

finish has some typical overall scattered wear that is mostly confined to the base.

This includes small areas of loss having some surface rust on the areas where the

paint has been off for a while. There are a few drips of old white paint and the bottom connection on the back rail of the cage has come apart but does not appear to be broken. The fan needs a little work to get it looking and running

it’s best but it will be beautiful once properly restored. If you like early fans that are a

step away from the ordinary this one is sure to fit the bill and will make an excellent
