This auction is for a wonderful pair of late Victorian, Edwardian era genuine diamond earrings.

The captivating earring face has a oval shape with a slightly domed surface.  This elegant form has then been sculpted with arabesques and ornate brackets creating an elegant frame for a beautiful natural diamond bead set in a flashy star cut seat.  Measuring approximately 1.7mm or .04ct total weight, both of these genuine gems have a G-H white color and a VS2-SI1 clarity with bright, lively twinkle.  The high karat yellow gold color the earrings have come from the pieces being given a acid bath.  This created the “bloomed” matte finish, a “skin” of 24kt gold, made when the acid removed all the mix metals from the surface.  After all of these years, only a bit of this unique surface remains but it helps to give the earrings a look of true antiquity and a special, rich glow that modern jewelry just does not have.  The earring “faces” were made in 10k solid rosy gold circa 1900.  The vintage style ear wires are new, solid 14k yellow gold.

The earring faces measure 19mm long by 12.8mm wide and they hang 1 and 1/16th inches long in the ear overall.  They weigh a whisper light and very comfortable 2.2 total grams.  For reference, a US dime measures 17.8mm in diameter and weighs 2.3 grams.  The earrings are in good condition showing almost none of the wear from their last 110 years some years, though if you look close you can see that each earring does has a tiny ding in the rim edge. We are professional jewelers with a eye tuned to see beauty…and we see it every where, even in ornaments as humble as cufflinks and antique clothing buttons!  Long time websiteers know us from the many, many pair of earrings we list and sell here; all upcycled and made from those old cufflinks and Victorian buttons and that is what we have here.  These earrings started life circa 1900 as a pair of “dumb bell” backed cuff links. After removing the old dumbell backs, we attached the solid gold ear wires and catchers using our laser welder.  The welder literally uses a laser beam to perfectly fuse the metals together; no sloppy solders or ruinous torch flame.  We always use solid 14k so you have “good” gold for your ears…we don’t want less, why would you?  The Victorians knew what they were doing when it came to the ear wires…some of you modern gals have been nervous about wearing the shepherd hook wires but are always relieved the find that the catchers make them very secure.  No more fumbling with (and losing!) little ear nuts…that, and the wires give the earrings a sassy bit of eye catching swing.   Every pair of our earrings are signed with a “A” in a diamond shape…we stand behind our work and the “Ace of Diamond” trademark is the proof.
What is it about the antique pieces that are so captivating?  For us, we love the quality and care they took in making each piece. We’ve pictured a page from a 1906 S. F. Myers jewelry catalog showing cufflinks which are identical to the ones we offer here, as well as a lovely Victorian lady wearing a similar pair of earrings.  Perhaps you are a period re-enactor or maybe just a devotee to a long gone romantic era in history; what ever the case, these Victorian earrings will make you feel elegant in your office suit AND at the park in your jeans!  If these are YOUR earrings, bid strong…they are the only pair we have.

For our international bidders:We get such a thrill knowing that we
have successfully shipped to England, France, Holland, Italy, Germany, Japan and
China…even to Tuktoyatuk, Canada which is ABOVE the Arctic Circle!  If you are
interested in our auctions, please feel free to ask for a shipping quote.  We
ship as inexpensively as your country’s import rules allow…IF they allow!
Some countries have very restrictive or even prohibitive shipping
rules.

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included
in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer’s
responsibility.
Please check with your country’s customs office to
determine what these additional costs will be prior to
bidding/buying.

These charges are normally collected by the
delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up – do not
confuse them for additional shipping charges.
We do not mark merchandise values below value or
mark items as ‘gifts’ – US and International government regulations prohibit
such
behavior. And finally, customs inspections can hold up a package
for additional days before it will deliver…we have no control over that
delay.  A recent first class mail package to the Netherlands took 7 WEEKS to
appear and customs added $46.00 to a $167.00 pair of
earrings.
