THIS AUCTION is for A SUPER LARGE, GLORIOUS, STERLING
SILVER WAITER TRAY for a TEA SET / SERVICE. As a large PLATTER /
SERVER.
It’s marked by the esteemed firm of SHREVE
& Co., SAN FRANCISCO and weighs an impressive 123.4 ounces. Or just short of
8 pounds of beautiful, heavy, all sterling, lustuous silver.
No dings or dents. No monogram or removal.
Great estate condition.
Designed in the English Georgian manner for
around 1770-1800 or so. Little earlier. However this tray was made later than
that. Some of Shreve’s pieces were made for them and not by them. This piece for
example may well have been made by International, and even then, one of their
subsidiaries because it matches International’s LORD ROBERT pattern perfectly.
It also matches the SALVER listed on our
other auctions. It would be nice to have them both together as that’s how we
acquired them… FREE shipping on both if you win both.
The measurments are: 26″ across the
handles. 19″ wide. About 2″ deep.
The inner well (flat usable surface) is
noted in the photos below. It will hold a complete 6 piece tea service…kettle,
tea, coffee pot, waste sugar and cream pitcher.
I’ve photographed it on a 6′ mahogany long
sideboard server for size perspective.
If you’re looking for a style that will
stand the test of time and match any luxurious decor, choose old Georgian like
this and your investment will be safe and sound.
Please be wary of the silver scrappers. At
$33-$36 per ounce melt, it’ll get to that amount so to assure a winning bid,
consider a little more than that. Of course we’d like you to bid the moon
but from a realistic point of view, be prepared…

location. We use USPS for 100% of our shipping. Insurance is required and
included in the shipping & handling fee per ‘s policy. If you notice a
quoted fee that is higher than you think it should be, consider that insurance
is approximately $1 per $100 and we have already integrated the insurance fee
into the shipping fee for the item based on our final value estimate for the
item.We are in
NORTH CAROLINA and parcel post can take up to 9 days to CA, TX, WA, etc.! CHOOSE
PRIORITY please. It’s only a little more and assures delivery in 2 to 4 days
after we post.
INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS please note: FOR CANADA, we can
ship PRIORITY INTERNATIONAL and for ALL other locations WE ONLY USE EMS. PLEASE
NOTE: We love our international customers,

Condition is hard to describe with estate items, antiques
and used items. Our ‘excellent’ may not be the same as your ‘excellent’ although
we are quite critical. Most importantly, antique excellent is NOT the same as
modern excellent. All our items are used.Argent-De-Massif also sells for consignors as well as
liquidating estates. The majority of items are direct from estates to you. We
don’t clean items. We don’t polish silver. You may get an item with a sticker on
it. dust in the crevices and general grime. One man’s grime is another mans
patina!
Suitability & Legal – PLEASE EMAIL EXPECTATIONS and
QUESTIONS before bidding. A dealer that resells often has different criteria
than a casual collector. Please ask appropriate questions.
