This pair of Japanese photos of an elementary school class is dated on the back of one of them as having been taken in May of Taisho 12 (1923), and was shot by K. Banba photo studio of Kyoto. The inscriptions both give the name of the same girl, and so the undated one is probably from 1924 or 1925. The undated image also gives the names of the two teachers in the back row.
These images are in basically good condition. There are no tears or significant scratches, but there are some light smudges, a few patches of light fading, and moderate silvering of the blacks. The detail is very good under magnification, down to the expressions on individuals’ faces. The tones in the close-up sample photos are fairly close to those of the actual image.
The mattings are in basically good condition, with some smudges and wear at the edges and corners.

For all our items, we set the shipping according to the fastest and most economical method. Generally, we set it as Air Mail if the shipping charge will be around fifteen dollars or less, and as SAL (economy airmail) if it would be over fifteen dollars via regular airmail. Nonetheless, we are always happy to change shipping methods if faster (and thus more expensive) or cheaper (and thus slower) shipping is desired. The shipping options available are (from fastest and most expensive to slowest and least expensive): EMS, Air Mail, SAL (economy airmail), Surface.
Registered mail with tracking is also available for an additional US$5.00 above the standard Air Mail shipping cost stated in the description. (The registered-mail charge will become lower if the dollar continues to strengthen against the yen.)
