Antique Persian Assyrian Solid Silver Hilted Engraved Steel Dagger Kard c1902
This is for an antique Persian Assyrian solid silver hilted engraved steel dagger kard, circa 1902.
The steel blade, with single curved edge, is engraved to one side with a foliate motif, the date ‘1902’ and Assyrian script. The solid silver hilt, has a curved terminal, and is engraved on either side to depict a bird. The solid silver continues onto the blade forte, to depict foliate scrolls, similar to that of a yatagan hilt. The silver hilt is unmarked, but tests as solid silver. The dagger is complete with its hand stitched beige leather covered wood scabbard. This dagger measures 211 mm in length. The blade measures 123 mm in length. The condition is generally excellent, without damage or repair, the blade has light surface marks, which is the patina of age. Please see images.
