RARE Antique J E Tilton & Co. of Boston Mass. Photo Album 44 Small Daguerreotype Photos Civil War Provenance. Wonderful estate find – most of the photos have the names written in pencil with some comments about The Civil War. J E Tilton co. published during the 1860’s era so we can be certain these are mid 19th century historical items. The album cames with a page that someone made transcribing the information and names that include: George Todd Killed at Vicksburg, Ellsworth Zouave Civil War, Chas Rich of Hollis State Theatre, and many others. There is also a very rare photo of a Japanese man named H Orodara who lived with S C Williams! This came from an old Boston Massachusetts estate and is fresh to the market – what a magnificent piece of history. With a bit of research the new owner can probably link all the photos to a common family! Very good condition, the binding inside hinge has come loose and the outer binding cover is split but the book is fully intact. The book’s boards are fancy red cloth with wonderful pressed gilt Victorian decoration; there was a clasp that only the front board part remains.
