ANTIQUE JAMES WILLCOX ~CUTE LIL OLD WILLCOX & GIBBS TREADLE SEWING MACHINE BASE
Hi Folks!!! Before I describe this wonderful EARLY treadle base to you, I need to share a little news… coming SOON… will no-longer allow in-picture descriptions….TEXT. Why? Who knows… but one thing I do know… it’s very hard to fight the machine… so enjoy it while it’s still here! I always have included comments inside with my pictures to explicitly tell you every detail of the items I am selling… seemed like a good thing!!! this evening is an EARLY… James Willcox treadle sewing machine base! YES… for a Willcox & Gibbs machine… glass tension! This base has been repainted at some point in it’s life… but we have carefully inspected it…and we found NO cracks, NO breaks, and NO repairs! We know that this is of the EARLIEST Willcox & Gibbs treadle bases made because on these early examples ONLY the name JAMES WILLCOX appears on the INSIDE of each treadle leg… On later model treadle bases… which LOOK basically the same as this base… we see the name WILLCOX & GIBBS. We also know that this is an EARLY base because throughout on it… we can see old original sand casting marks… EARLY-on… Willcox was not as good at their casting techniques… thus some sand casting marks! As the company progressed, so did their casting techniques…and by the time the Automatic tension model treadle were being produced… there were basically NO casting marks any more! This base is being presented to you in as found condition… it would be PERFECT for your CUTE LIL OLD W&G glass tension head… that needs a HOME… or dare I say… with a base this FANCY… it literally has 1,000’s of creative uses! A wonderful addition to ANY collection!!! Just a SUPER find!!!
