ANTIQUE HAND PAINTED TEA CUP AND SAUCER, GEORGE JONES CRESCENT CHINA

ANTIQUE HAND PAINTED TEA CUP AND SAUCER, GEORGE JONES CRESCENT CHINA

ANTIQUE

Exquisite handpainted George Jones & Sons Crescent China tea cup and saucer. Cobalt blue and white with gilded edges.

George Jones and Sons is a sought after manufacturer of English china, his Crescent pieces were produced as early as 1893. This particular design is A4680 and was registered in 1892 (registration no. 201593).

The Crescent hall marks (as shown in the photos) are classified as GJ14/GJ15 and are attributed to the years c.1891-1920.

Condition wise, this set is near perfect, considering the age and the fact that it was used as tablewear rather than decorative. There is some very minor fading of the gilding and paintwork in a couple of places but nothing that detracts from the overall condition. There are a couple of miniscule black spots within the cup, but these are within the china/glaze itself and will have always been there. There are no hairline cracks or yellow staining.

There is no reserve on this. The item will be well bubble wrapped and boxed and sent by Royal Mail. I’m happy to post it internationally but the buyer will obviously have to pay the cost – I would estimate it to be approx. £10 – £15.

I recently acquired this at a stately home contents auction and have a couple of other bits from the same range so please have a look at my other items, I’m happy to combine postage where possible.

Paypal or cash on collection.

Many thanks for looking.
