Antique English 1840’s Scrolled Cast Iron Sewing Clamp with Swing Arm

Antique This rare antique sewing clamp was made in England around 1840. It is pictured in “sewing tools and trinkets” by Helen Lester Thompson on page 134. It is made of cast iron with a scrolled style decorative design. The fan shaped arm swings to one side to put fabric in place to secure for sewing. Unlike sewing birds this kind of sewing clamp has never been reproduced. It is a thumb screw hemming clamp. It measures 4 1/2 inches. This beautiful clamp is in great condition.
