Antique
Beaded Silk Needle Roll & Pin Cushion
English
* Circa 1860
This
wonderful little sewing roll from the Victorian era was
made to hold needles and pins and was entirely made by hand. There is
a round, sausage style pin cushion at the beginning of the needle roll
and the rest of the peach colored silk wraps around
that. Inside it is lined with a very fine wool twill that has been
hand embroidered with four sprays of silk floss flowers. The ends of
the round silk pin
cushion were to be stuck with pins. The edges are trimmed with scallops
of white glass beads. A loop slips over a little
button on the outside to hold it all together.
It all looks to be original.
The
silk is in with very little wear and the wool has
no moth holes. The
needle
roll is 11 1/4″ long stretched out and 2 3/4″
wide. This elegant little piece would be a great addition to a work
box or sewing
basket.
I stand behind
everything that I offer and guarantee that it is exactly as
presented.
