ANTIQUE AMERICAN FOLK ART SQUIRREL CARVING POSSIBLY BY WILHELM SCHIMMEL

ANTIQUE Antique American folk art carving depicting a squirrel holding an acorn possibly by Wilhelm Schimmel ca 1880-90. I have seen other examples of squirrels by Schimmel and this one resembles them. The work also as the age associated with a work form the time period. I have enclosed lots of pictures of the work below this description so you can judge for yourself. I am pretty confident this could be by him but I am not 100% sure and its hard to say for sure without a provenance. I am selling the work as possibly by him, not definitely. It is however a fantastic folk art carving with great presence and charm. It is carved from pine. It measures 9″H x 4″D x 2 1/4″W. It is in very good condition, it does have an old glue repair or restoration to the left ear, please see photos below. There are some light nick at the edge of the base of the work. Found in CT.
