Description:

This Elgin Grade 241 is speculated as a Railroad adjusted watch by the research documents published by the late Roy Ehrhardt and I would not argue with it.

However, this is a beautiful hunter cased three finger bridges Elgin that is clearly made for someone of come efficacy to use and carry for work besides running railroads. Enjoy the pictures and you will see what I mean.

:

When we say a watch was serviced on a certain date, that means that the Movement including all wind and set parts has been completely dis-assembled and inspected, the dial has been Soaked and cleaned..

Then all hardware parts including capped jewel pairs, the mainspring and all the jewels are cleaned in a 12 – 17 minute, L&R spin clean cycle with L&R Fine watch cleaning solution, then spin rinsed for 5-8 minutes twice in L&R #3 Rinse solution and dried on an L&R Hot Air dryer.

After Drying all pivot jewels, friction jewels and jewel caps are cleaned with pegwood . The wheel train is pre-assembled with Pithwood/Rodico polished wheel staffs and “free spin” tested and the Balance wheel is also “free spin” tested in its host jewel sets in all 6 positions.

Then all pivots and jewels are hand “spot lubed” with Moebus 9010/2 Synthetic watch oil, the mainspring is lightly relubed with Moebus 8300 grease, the watch is re-assembled and tested for beat error and time accuracy in three positions on a Mumford Electronic Timer. If the watch is good within a few minutes a day no further adjustments are done.

The watches described as re-staffed are always more accurate as they have been fully poised and timed as well. Anything else that has been repaired or replaced is separately listed in the description as well.

We do NOT spend the extra 4 hours to 5 position adjust the watch unless the buyer wants to pay another $300.00.

This watch described to the best of our abilities. Due to the age of this piece we offer it AS-IS. (See refund terms)
