8 Antique Black Glass Picture Buttons- Floral, Bird Claw, Head of Mercury, Elephant +.See Big Book of Buttons plate 33 button #1 for this button which is called Head of Mercury. This button has backmark PAT’D DEC 28, 1880.This button measures 1 and 1/2 inches in diameter to give you a size reference. Two other particularly nice buttons are the elephant and claw buttons. The elephant button is an gorgeous large sized black glass picture button at 1 inch in diameter and looks even better in person than in photos. This button has teeny tiny nick to outside edge that is barely visible in person but appears appears larger in photo due to super enlargements. Buttons are in nice condition except the hand holding floral bouquet button bottom left has a area to back of hand where I am wondering if some sort of rhinestone or stone was set there that is now missing. Also the largest Mercury Head button has a roughened small chipped area to outside edge and then a nicked area to edge at the 4 o’clock position on button (see frontside photo enlarged to view these areas).Nice grouping of larger black glass picture buttons! Buttons have not been cleaned on at all and I will leave for buyer to do so if desired. Please click on photos in the listing to supersize them.
