Lovely Antique French Painted Leaf & Mother of Pearl Fan
Description
This is a Lovely Antique French Fan, measuring approx. 13¼ inches
Leaf – Painted paper, with a scene of two young ladies, sharing a secret moment, on a rustic seat in the woods. Very well painted. Reverse leaf is lined with silk
Condition of leaf:-Slight nics in some top edge folds. The main problem in need of some restoration,is the bottom edge of the leaf. The lower sticks have loosened from the upper sticks {which hold the leaf} and torn some leaf around the sticks {see photo’s} A little foxing on the reverse.
Sticks-Mother of Pearl and nicely inlaid. Super decorated guard sticks {see photo’s} The lower sticks are also inlaid and shaped.
Condition:-Guard sticks are in good condition. Lower sticks, one is repaired and one is missing. Inside the finger ring is engraved, S LEVY 41 AVENUE DE L’OPERA {see photo’s}
A beautiful fan and well worth having it restored.
