Civil War/Victorian era 2 piece Pill Rolling Machine


Offered for your consideration is this brass and walnut doctors/apothecaries’ pill rolling machine. In , 7″ by 11 1/2″ and 2 1/2″ by 16 1/2″. Marked at top of table with number of pillets and size 24/80 GT. After combining the medicines with a binding agent it was rolled out into long roles then drawn across the table with the top cutter, forming round pills. These then after allowing to skin over were placed into a pill finisher/silverer and coated with either powder sugar, silver/gold powder before being given to the patient.
