Beautiful antique carved shell cameo brooch with a delightful silver mount. The brooch has a classical portrait which I believe is Mercury or Hermes. The brooch is approx 5cm x 4cm and has an intricately worked setting of leaf design. There is also a pendant fastening at the top so could be worn as a brooch or pendant. The mount appears to be silver gilt and is continental 800 silver ( marked in diamond at base of mount reverse) In lovely condition the pin fastening works well but the little slider which often appears on this type of brooch seems not to be there but it does still fasten securely.
