A beautiful and early Australian made tin, LONGS WORLD FAMED COUGH DROPS The ‘confection’ itself manufactured in Ballarat , the Tin made by Excelsior manufacturing co. in Melbourne ca 1900. Some amusing notes on the tin include the following advice
‘ …the ingredients are composed by a chemist in London and consumers can rest assured no deleterious matter such as opium, is used….’
The tin has a fine gold and green pictorial litho print all around with a nicely formed and unusual lid with further printing. All in excellent order and just minor surface scuffs and wear only. No rust or dents and a really fine addition to a medical or general tin related collection. Height is over 4 inches (10.5cm)
