BEN ADORABLE ANTIQUE TEDDY BEAR CIRCA 1920’S

BEN This is Ben, which has been his name all his life. When I purchased him, I was told he was bought by a Chicago dock worker in the 1920’s for his Son Richard. I was told he was an American bear, but he does have some German characteristics I think. He measures 17 1/2″  tall. Short bristle mohair, which he retains about 75%. He has original glass eyes, nose and mouth stitching. He has sliced in ears. Woodwool stuffed with a tilt growler, which just clunks around in his tummy. His foot pads have a nylon covering over the originals, which is very thin and you can see through it. One pad looks perfect underneath to me, and the other on the right, you can see a bit of straw underneath. It is very well done, and blends perfectly. He has 2 claw stitches on his feet, and 4 to each paw pad. His left arm is a bit quirky, as it turns outwards a bit at the wrist, instead of curving inward as the right arm does. But he was ‘born that way’. He has a felt patch on the upper part of the paw pad. He has really long arms, very pronounced snout, and big feet. All his joints work perfectly. He is a very cute, expressive bear. He comes with his hand knitted vintage sweater.
