This is a beautiful antique painting. All original, this gorgeous painting dates to the early 1900’s Victorian era. Most likely a famous Victorian Sunday painting, this is an oil painting on canvas that features a gorgeous spray of roses and rosebuds mixed in among green leaves! This beautiful painting is artist signed, bottom right hand corner, “E.A. DeWitt” and dated, “1904”. As you can see from my photos, this artist was most talented and definitely influenced by the very famous and beloved artist during the Victorian era, Catherine Klein! This artist definitely captured the romantic beauty of Catherine Klein’s and the Victorians favorite flower, the rose! In for a painting that is 108 years old, this antique beauty has the expected and age related wear along the edges, very minimal, and a few tiny chips of missing paint within the canvas. There are no rips, tears or punctures, some minimal crazing. These antique Victorian rose oil paintings are so romantic and add so much beauty and charm to a home. They look amazing displayed in groupings, or simply on their own.
