WELCOME to a TIGDAM AUCTION SALE on (ends TUE 8TH MAY 2012) for an ANTIQUE VINTAGE OX BONE (IVORY COLOURED) NECKLACE WITH MASSIVE 2cm BEADS – c.1880/1900 – NO RESERVE – SEE ALL PHOTOS – PAYPAL ONLY – FURTHER DESCRIPTION BELOW (USA – SEE IMPORTANT NOTE BELOW RE DELIVERY TIME BEFORE YOU BUY).
THIS AUCTION Is for an amazing Victorian carved ox bone necklace with enormous 2cm (and bigger) beads, circa 1880/1900.
Condition: Beautiful warm patina to the beads with chequered criss-cross striations and ring patterns. These are authentic Victorian – not new, not dyed – these are the real deal. Some expected cracking and minor expected wear, but nothing ugly or terribly bad at all. Please view photos and see for yourselves (lots of close ups for you to enjoy – please click on pictures and supersize for detail). The thread is strong and secure, though we can see these have been recently restrung (not professionally) but they are perfectly fit and good for wearing straight away (please see photo of how necklace hangs). These are even big enough to be reworked/recarved if desired.
Description: Hidden screw clasp. It strikes us that these beads may originally have been a strand of prayer beads that were later made into a necklace? We say that because the beads are so very huge, and the only other ox bone beads of this size we have come across have been prayer beads. It makes no difference either way, we just mention our experience – you may know differently. The beads are roughly round in shape, not perfectly round. Not sure if these are Chinese, African or perhaps even Tibetan – sold as seen.
Measures: 21inches (52.5cm) long end to end. BIG beads, they all measure around 2cm or more in circumference, varying between 20mm to 23.5mm. A total of 24 beads.
Weight : Heavy necklace, weighs 215 grams.
Clasp: Hidden screw clasp in good working order.
This is an amazing rare necklace, very seldom to find with a single huge bead, and here is a whole strand of them. Lots of photos for you to enjoy. We know buyer will be very happy and pleased with these beads.
