Swedish mid-century modern stylized sitting cat figurine made by Gustavsberg Porcelain Factory. This piece was designed by Lisa Larson around 1956 for her Lilla Zoo series. Made of a dense red clay, only the cat’s face, legs and striped back are glazed. This cat has a fabulous mottled blue coloration on his back and tail. This is a heavy piece for its size, weighing 12 ounces. The charming puss stands 4 ¾” (12 cm) tall and is marked with a Gustavsberg sticker. This item is in excellent undamaged condition. There is a tiny glaze skip on the tip of the cat’s right paw, but this occurred in the making and is original to the piece.
