Up for your bidding pleasure today is this magnificent and wildly sought after 16 size, 21 Jewel Elgin Father Time railroad grade pocket watch dating to 1920 and in beautiful condition – serious collectors will not want to miss the opportunity to add this bold piece to their high grade railroad pocket watch collections! This beauty is packed with features that make him a high-demand signature piece for your collection.
This 16 size “Father Time” pocket watch measures approximately 49 mm not including the desirable prominent stem which sits at the 12 o’clock position. The coined edge case features a finely rendered machine-turned backing that holds a fancy open shield area, awaiting your engraved initials! This historic gold filled beauty is in great condition with only a few minor surface scratches on the back of the case. How spectacular to find a piece of its age in such remarkable condition! The inside of the case is stamped, “B&B Royal 20 Years.”
You’ll also appreciate the tall stem with onion crown underneath the omega-shaped bow where you’ll wind your watch, and you’ll find the secure lever set mechanism at the eleven o’clock position underneath the screw down bezel. Designed to ensure maximum timekeeping precision and insurance that the watch would not be accidentally set to the wrong time- thus avoiding railway disasters- this lever set mechanism works smoothly and is a fabulous conversation piece! Turning over this watch and looking inside the screw down back case, you’ll delight in the exceptionally clean and delightfully damasked 3/4 plate movement is signed “Elgin Father Time” and bears the serial number23721014 which dates this very high grade 21 jewel piece to 1920.
