“POSSIBLY ANTIQUE” AUTOMATON MUSIC BOX, BISQUE DOLL HEAD & HANDSNEEDS SOME HELP

POSSIBLY ANTIQUE Beautiful Vintage Automaton Doll, Bisque Head & HandsWorking, but Needs Repair
Please look carefully at all of the photos, and read all of the following information before bidding.

I am re-listing this doll;  it was possibly listed incorrectly last week as antique and French, and I received several messages from collectors who are more knowledgeable than I am about these (practically everyone is),  advising me that both the other automaton and possibly this one are likely to be reproductions, probably from the 1970s or 80’s.
I ended both auction early, canceling all of the bids, and emailed (hopefully) all the bidders.

I’m fairly certain that the other one is a 1970’s-1980’s reproduction.  This one I’m not so sure of.  The wear on the velvet under the key, the fact that the key is on top,  the toning of the material (both dress and box), and a few other things make me hopeful that maybe this one might be older. There is also the possibility that this is an older automaton with a non-original head, more recent head?
I’ve added a few more photos (the last 3).

I am certainly not an expert on these but I (now) believe that this is at least a vintage doll automaton, and quite possibly antique.
Again, please look carefully at all
of the photographs, arrive at your own conclusions, and bid
accordingly.  I will answer all questions if I can.

The music box plays two songs, Brahm’s Lullaby alternating with the Blue Danube Waltz. The piece is working, but in obvious need of repair.
The arms will move up and down (simultaneously) and the head nods, but the foot that has the mechanical moving rod in it has come unglued from the base, and the doll severely leans to her left.
The condition of the dolls dress could certainly be better, it appears complete and un-torn, but it’s fairly stained, or toned with age.  The bisque hands and beautiful head are in good condition, no cracks or repairs, and the hand painted face has blue glass set eyes are clear and bright.  The wig is loose, and just resting on her head in the photos.
There’s a mark on the back of the neck, shown in the 6th photo that I am not familiar with.  It is crossed arrows (very simple) above the letter C.
She stands about 12 inches tall in total height, including the base which is 2-1/2 tall, making the height of the doll about 9-1/2 inches.  The base is about 2-3/4 x 5-1/2 inches.

This stunning old mechanical doll and music box is still obviously worth more than the very low starting bid, and is being sold with no reserve.  in the USA via Parcel Post or Priority Mail can be determined by using the shipping calculator (actual postage costs only). Be
sure to check out the other interesting and assorted items we have listed this week, including another automaton (that’s in much better condition).  You can see all of them by clicking onto: my other neat stuff !  Combine purchases and save on shipping.
