Embossed Cloth. Second Edition. Size 5.375 inches by 7.875 inches, 299 pages plus 16 pages of black and white photographs. A book which has recently been reprinted, but this is a most rare early edition of the work which presents the sad history of oppressed women in the Moslem world at the beginning of the 20th Century, which continues today in some parts of the Middle east and Africa. Contains detailed information on the treatment, rights and status of girls and women in Egypt, Arabia, Tunisia, Morocco, Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Persia, Sudan, East Africa, Turkey, Bulgaria, Baluchistan, Southern India, Turkistan, Cathay, Java, and Malaysia.Embossed brown cloth with a reproduction of a Talbot Kelly colour painting tipped onto front cover, gold-embossed on spine.
 
CONDITION: No handwriting or torn pages. Binding is tight and intact. Has bumped corners and spine ends. There is a small sticker inside the front cover indicating the book was acquired for an individual’s library in 1930. Clean inside and out. From a smoke free home.
