Happy Easter to Everyone! This week we have a very Special Offering of Rare 19th century New England Weathervane’s from an old collection That we Bought that have been in a privet Collection for years all found in New England back in the mid 50s.
Here
is an extremely Rare late 19th c. New England copper running fox weathervane. – As Mentioned in the book A gallery of American Weathervanes and Whirligigs The fox Weathervane is nearly as rare as seeing a fox, for this elusive animal seems to have inspired very few commercial vane companies to add it’s form to there line. In the 19th century The fox represents a menace to the farmer who would much more rather have a barn yard animal on there barns therefore the fox weathervane remains to be a very rare form, and today is highly desirable among advanced weathervane collectors. – This is truly a wonderful American Folk Art Copper Running Fox Weathervane. Quite possibly produced by L.W. CUSHING & SONS. – It retains the best untouched dry verdigris surface with traces of old gilt with absolutely no repairs or restorations. I think this is by far one of the best vanes ever offered !! it Measures: 28 in. x 13 in. height. would display beautifully in any
ones advanced folk art weathervane
