ORIGINAL ANTIQUE KODAK SERVICES/FILM ADVERTISEMENT METAL SIGN

ORIGINAL ANTIQUE KODAK SERVICES/FILM ADVERTISEMENT METAL SIGN

ORIGINAL  This is an original Kodak metal sign for advertising
services and film a Kodak photographic dealer could offer. It could date back
as early as 1931 as that’s the year Kodak Verichrome film was introduced. This
film was discontinued in 1956.

An English company, Wratten & Wainwright, introduced
Verichrome film around 1907. It had greater sensitivity and speed compared to
the contemporary emulsions of the time. This company was purchased by Kodak in
1912. In 1931 Kodak released the film on a safety base as a roll film with
greater latitude and finer grain than the Kodak NC (Non-Curling) Film that had
been the standard since 1903. Verichrome Safety film was replaced by Verichrome
Pan film in 1956.

The sign is 17” wide and 17” high at the largest points. It
appears to have hung at the top on three metal retainers of some type for years
given the oxidation pattern below the three openings. The colors are better on
one side and both sides are pictured. Great item for display along with your
Kodak collection.
