You are an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE JAPANESE SAMURAI SWORD WITH SIGNATURE IN FAIR/POOR CONDITION. This is an old sword that we were told from prior to 1900. It was not been well taken care of as you can see from the marks on the blade. The blade measures 23″ and is 1″ at it’s widest point. The blade and tip are not broken or cracked. There is one very small dent on the blade edge. The tang has japanese figures on one side and they are very hard to make out. We did our best to photograph them. The tang is very rough as you can see. The hebaki shows dents and damage and appears to be made of copper. The wooden handle is made of two pieces and held together by a wooden peg. The scabbard is likewise two parts, but has been glued together and not very well. The blade no longer goes all the way down the scabbard (probably from excess dried glue inside. That is all the information we have on the sword. It came from the estate of a University of California professor who had lots of historical items in his collection.
