This is a 7 day auction for an Unusual 21/32″ Antique German Hand-Made Translucent Red Marble in Great Condition with all over surface crazing. Because of the crazing, I wouldn’t know how to properly grade this marble. There are no internal cracks or fractures. When backlit ( last 6 pictures ), the marble has a red translucent base glass. Both pontils have a white opaque finish. I purchased half a dozen, all different colors, from a German Dealer in Lauscha a number of years ago. I discarded 2 of them because they were too badly damaged. I have never before seen anything like these marbles and assumed they were dug marbles, although there is no dirt in the pontils, nor are they soiled in any way. Any comments about this type of marble would be welcomed.
