~*~LARGE LOT PHOTOGRAPH FILM POSITIVES & NEGATIVES WW I FRANCE- SOLDIERS TOWNS~*~
Large lot of photographs taken by an unknown photographer (a soldier or war correspondent?) in World War I France. There are 11 photographic positives on 5″ x 7″ Eastman Kodak Safety Film Sheets. These are in a packet marked French positives. There are also 31 negative 3 3/4″ x 2 1/4″. There are several pictures of groups of soldiers, many pictures of towns and villages. One picture taken from a small plane. These negatives are in a packet market South France. There are also a group of 6 negatives taken on a street in an unidentified Rhode Island town. (Known because the cars all have RI plates.)
Also included: 1 5″x 7″ glass plate negative of a woodland stream; 1 6″ x 8″ glass photo positive of a winter woodland waterfall; and 3 duplicate 8″ x 10″ glass plate positives of an old mill by a waterfall. As these are part of the same collection, I assume that they were also taken in France.
It is possible that these photographs were taken by a professional photographer/war correspondent.
The whole collection, including glass plates, was stored in a box that originally held 8″ x 10″ Kodak Sheet Film. The box is marked “Europe WWI War Negatives.”
I digitally reversed the French negatives & glass plate negative for ease of viewing. I did not reverse the RI negatives.
