LARGE 1960’s BRAKNER ANTIQUE Canadian 73 Estate PipeHand CutMade in Denmark

LARGE

Hey guys,

This one is gonna hurt.

here is a near-Mint BRAKNER ANTIQUE CANADIAN that was Hand Cut in Denmark.

Every 5 minutes I go back and forth on whether or not to keep this pipe.  It is in absolutely tremendous condition.  Looks like it just rolled out of Brakner’s work-shop 50 years ago.  Brakner’s real name was Peter Micklson.  He sat under Poul Rasmussen in the Suhr workshop before starting his own line of pipes and becoming famous for his micro-rustication “Antique” finish and his stem-work.  You can see the beauty of both in this pipe.

If you want to collect the work of the old Danish Masters, here’s a great place to start.

About me
My name is Nathan Mattia and I live in St. Louis, Missouri.  I’ve been smoking pipes since Spring Break 1995.Like a lot of first-timers, I had no idea that several factors were keeping me from actually enjoying the experience:
1.  I was smoking a cheap, drug-store pipe.
2.  I was smoking cheap, drug-store tobacco.
3.  I was trying to light up in a hot tub–a move that should only be attempted by professionals.

Anyway, a good friend at a tobacco shop finally showed me how to properly pack and light a good estate Stanwell Pipe with some quality tobacco, and I’ve been a fan ever since.  You can’t usually go wrong with a quality estate pipe that’s been broken in and well-taken care of.

I teach Middle School History by day, am a pastor on the weekends, and clean up and sell quality old pipes for fun (and the occasional car-payment).
If you’ve got some pipes you’d like to sell, I’m always buying.  Or if you just have a few questions, please ask me.
