As befitted a militaristic
society, there were a number of women’s associations whose role was to support
the activities of the military at home. The Patriotic Women’s Association is the
oldest of the women’s associations having been founded on March 2, 1901 by
Okumura Ioko first class badge the anchor and star are navy and red respectively
with the cherry blossom wreath enameled in natural colors. The diameter of badge
is about 1.18 inches.

The basic member’s badge featured the symbol of the organization
(the army cap badge and crossed swords over a fouled anchor all within a shield)
and came in two sizes. The size of this badge is 1.2 x 0.75
inches.

This Red Cross medal is a medal given to the nurse who cared for the
war wound soldier at the time of the Russo-Japanese War
KANZI of Meiji 37-8, a Nursing commemoration chapter, and the Japanese Red Cross
can read on the reverse side of a medal.
