This is a video clip of the actual violin being sold in this auction
and was shot on my inexpensive Casio digital camera in video
mode. There is absolutely no enhancement of the sound at all…
no expensive, special microphones, no computer alteration,
no studio effects. The piece is an excerpt from Saint Saens’
Danse Macabre. The player is a student who always
welcomes your comments. Please enjoy it!
AN BEAUTIFUL, HANDMADE VIOLIN
with a POWERFUL, RESONANT SOUNDThe timbers used in this violin are absolutely magnificent,
old specimens. The back is highly flamed and deeply arched
which likely accounts for deep, warm, resonant sound.
Our local shop believes its circa 1870-1890s and a
fine example of German violinmaking of the period.This is an old handmade violin with a beautiful voice.

impressive old German instrument in beautiful condition.
I believe this violin belongs in the hands of an advanced
violinist or a collector of handmade instruments. This
is a special instrument with powerful sound that is
suitable for a soloist, a concertmaster,

(this is a very old label, likely 125 plus years…there is a
date written after the “17” but I cannot make it out.)

are becoming more and more difficult to acquire . They
are highly sought after by advanced players, professional
violinists, violin teachers and private collectors.

CONDITION
A 4/4 violin in nice vintage condition. No sound post cracks, no cracks
to the scroll or neck. No open seams. This is an estate instrument
some, there is some minor wear…insignificant dings as you would
expect from an instrument that has been played. I’ve posted plenty
of large photographs; they’re part of the description. As with any
antique violin, it will benefit from a fresh set of strings, a fresh
setup, etc.so it will conform to your tastes. Its a lovely old
German violin, a rare find…sold here without a reserve.
