Here is a brass miners safety lamp. J.M. Everhart Maker Scranton, PA is stamped in the top of the lamp. This is an early safety lamp which replaced the canary for use in detecting explosive and/or dangerous gases in the mines. This brass lamp is in good shape with normal wear and tear on a lamp of this age.
