“Early Crazy Quilt”

Thanks for stopping by the Cabin!

Being offered today is a Victorian Era WEDDING CRAZY QUILT.

The quilt was originally purchased in Tennessee, and is dated May 4th 1893.

This Beautiful Quilt is a Family Made Wedding Gift, That depicts the Bride and Groom in a Block Top Center, under that are the Names Lizzie O. Carden and Jim Bill. The rest of the Quilt is a Stunning Collection of Embroiderd Names, Initials, A Wide Variety of interesting Stitcheries and Stumpwork such as Flowers, Insects, Animals, Men and Woman, There is a Ringed Hand, Hearts, Goats, Horses and Roosters, Pears, Owls,Cats and Crosses. All are done on Early Silks, Tickings and Cottons, Pieced Together with a Variety Beautiful Embriodery Stitches onto a Muslin cotton.

The back of this Quilt is entirely done in a Brown Polished Cotton that has been stitched on around the edge.

The quilt measures 70″ wide by 82″ long… As you can see from the many Pictures I have taken it does have some condition issues, some of the Silk fabrics have shattering, there are some seam seperations, holes and some areas of wear around the edges. It is still in strong condition and not at all Fragile..

A Charming Antique Quilt that is Just So Very Interesting, Each time I Look at it I find Something New and wish I Knew more of the Family History.

Don’t Hesitate-On This Beautiful Piece of American History YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED!
