Earliest translucent Zenith dowel Eames Herman Miller
An exceptionally rare first run Zenith armshell.
This chair is such an unusual example as it is actually translucent. The earliest production of Zenith chairs did not use the opaque coloured resin. This example has a clear resin throughout so that you can actually see what is behind it. Note the picture where you can actually read through it !
Lemon yellow is an experimental colour at this time as well. This may actually be a pre-production experimental piece as I have never seen another in iver 15 years of collecting Eames pieces.
Do not confuse the sight of the shockmounts with glue bleed through. You can just simply SEE the shockmounts through the translucent resin. So clear that you can also see the full Zenith checkerboard label.
Condition is exceptional for it’s age. The shell is nice with light wear or scuffs from gentle use over 6 decades. The dowel base is nice and retains it’s original resin feet and all original hardware.
If you are a serious collector of Eames designs you should jump on th eopportunity to obtain this incredibly rare and unusual example.
