Late 18th, Early 19th Century Herb Drying Hook

A fine example of a late 18th, early 19th century three pointed blacksmith made New England iron hook, circa 1740-1800.

Hooks such as this were crafted by period blacksmiths for use by a variety of patrons for a variety of uses.  More commonly hooks of this style were hung in various barns and homes for the purpose of supporting bundles of various garden herbs for the drying process.

Take a moment to click on the images and you’ll see you can produce enlargements that showcase the wonderful period construction. This example stands approximately 6" tall.
